Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Williamson County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept long enough to respond and manage the exchange. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the server to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The device's assigned IP address
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this information into broader usage reports. A browser can reject cookies, though parts of the site may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the selected search provider
- Maintaining site availability and page speed
- Finding errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which pages are useful or need revision
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Williamson County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official routes under the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§ 10-7-501 through 10-7-515, as well as TBI's criminal-history channel under T.C.A. § 38-6-120. Those routes lead to Williamson County courts, the sheriff, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a third-party criminal file or a consumer report, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies run the search boxes. A partner's own privacy policy controls the information entered there, including retention and sharing choices beyond this site's control. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, sheriff pages, Tennessee agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before submitting personal information.
Some advertising companies track activity across websites to select ads. That tracking takes place through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures protect collected data, but no internet system is immune from risk. Safeguards reduce exposure without guaranteeing that a breach can never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor may be requested for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Tennessee consumer-protection law, including the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act at T.C.A. §§ 47-18-101 and following, may provide rights in addition to the choices listed here. A visitor may:
- Opt out of qualifying forms of processing
- Request a copy of personal data held about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Ask that eligible personal data be erased
